Born to a family with a love for the arts, Gelareh’s desire to be an artist started at an early age. Her talents then flourished once she entered art school where she exhibited incredible skills as an oil and acrylic painter as well as a sculptor.
Despite her formal training being in the traditional arts, she uncovered that her true passions were for fashion, recalling back to those times when her mother would design and handcraft unique pieces for her and her sister. Gelareh chose to follow in her mother’s footsteps and design her own clothes. She took courses at FIDM in San Francisco, CA to further hone her craft.
In 2011 Gelareh Couture was born and only 1 year after the launch, her brand was featured on the Voice of America show as one of the unique and innovative Iranian designers. Initially she focused her designs on outerwear but over time she grew out her fashion line to include contemporary pieces to elegant evening wear including wedding gowns.
